SOUTH

Community First Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla. has named Carla Romano manager of the San Pablo branch. Romano has served as the assistant branch manager there since July 2008. As branch manager, Romano is responsible for all of the daily branch operations, including lending, business accounts, staffing and relationships with local schools and businesses. Romano previously served as assistant branch manager and interim branch manager at Michigan Schools & Government Credit Union for more than six years. Prior to her credit union career, she was business director for Treasure Coast Harley-Davidson in Stuart, Fla., for eight years. She also worked as an operations manager for Barnett Bank.

Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville, Ala., announced that John N. Cook and Neil A. Carville have joined the business retail department. As assistant vice president, business services, Cook has oversight of business lending and the retail marketing of business deposit accounts.

Prior to joining Redstone, Cook was a self-employed business consultant and life coach, working primarily with small business owners and managers and not-for-profit organizations. Before moving to Alabama, Cook was a senior vice president with Wachovia, where his responsibilities included management of business development in metropolitan and community markets and risk management.

As a business loan officer, Carville's position at Redstone includes making commercial loans. Carville started his banking career in Louisiana in 1988. Prior to coming to Redstone, he was a senior commercial lender in Cleveland, Ga. His banking experience includes all areas of branch management as well as consumer and commercial lending. He has spent the past 10 years working in commercial lending, including financing, construction and other business financing.

Local Government Federal Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., announced the addition of five new advisory council members to five of its 22 councils across the state. The Coastal Plain appointee is David Clack, Sampson County, finance officer. The Northern Mountain appointee is Angela Eggers, Ashe County, assistant finance officer. The South Piedmont appointee is Regina Davis, Mecklenburg EMS Agency, human resources recruiter, paramedic, event planner and internal communications specialist. The Triangle appointee is Patty Gravinese, N.C. Biotechnology Center, director of accounting and purchasing. The Wake appointee is Richard Salentine, ElectriCities, manager of support services. The new appointments are part of LGFCU's volunteer-driven initiative to educate people on the benefits of credit union membership and relay feedback to management regarding available or potentially available products and services, delivery of service and member needs. Advisory council members serve as liaisons between credit union members and non-members and LGFCU management.

Community First Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., has named David Binder as assistant vice president for the Member Service Contact Center. Binder will lead the operations of a telephone and online service center for the credit union's 104,000 members. Binder has more than 20 years' experience in coaching and sales within the banking and real estate industries and served as a manager at Bank of America's contact center in Jacksonville. Binder is active in the Jacksonville community as a volunteer for Habijax, Ronald McDonald House and the United Way campaign.

Keesler Federal Credit Union, Biloxi, Miss., honored employees for their loyalty and years of service to the credit union. Forty employees were in attendance to receive a service pin at the 2009 Keesler Federal annual membership meeting. Neighbors Federal Credit Union, Baton Rouge, La., announced that Greg Inman has been named senior vice president, retail operations. Inman began his work with Neighbors FCU in 2000, but most recently managed the lender development program with CUNA Mutual Group, working with credit unions in the South. Inman holds a bachelor's degree in management from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2004, Inman earned the certified credit union executive designation, the highest honor awarded to credit union executives. He also earned the certified lending specialist designation from CUNA.

MIDWEST

US Federal Credit Union, Burnsville, Minn., has named Tracy Hanley to the position of branch manager for the Eastside Financial Center branch in St. Paul. Hanley has spent 12 years in the financial industry, including positions as a teller and investment representative. Most recently, she held the position of assistant branch manager at USFCU's Bloomington branch. In her new position, Hanley will serve and provide outreach to the Payne-Phalen community of St. Paul, as well as oversee branch community involvement, establish and achieve sales and service goals, and build relationships to enhance the member experience. Hanley will also partner with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in developing business for the Eastside Financial Center.

MSU Federal Credit Union, Lansing, Mich., announced that Vice President for Operations Jeff Benson was honored by the Michigan State University Museum as its 2009 exemplary volunteer. Benson, who is past-president of the MSU Museum's associates board, was recognized for his nearly 20-year involvement with the MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash, which benefits educational programs at the MSU Museum.

EAST

First New York Federal Credit Union, Colonie, N.Y., announced that Allison Bestercy has been hired as a teller for its Colonie branch. Bestercy is originally from East Greenbush, N.Y., and now lives in Colonie. She has an associate degree from Schenectady County Community College and is earning a bachelor's degree from SUNY Delhi. Before joining First New York FCU, she worked for Wal-Mart and completed an internship at Walt Disney World. First New York FCU also announced that James Wickware has been hired as an IT specialist.

Wickware and his family are from Ravena, N.Y., and he is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in computer information systems. Before joining First New York FCU, he worked for Save-a-Lot Distribution Center and GU Markets.

South Jersey Federal Credit Union, Deptford, N.J., has named Jason D. Henckel branch manager at its new Moorestown branch at the intersection of North Church Street and New Albany Road. In his new position, Henckel is responsible for business development in the Moorestown region and overseeing the daily operations and staff of the Moorestown office. Prior to being named to this post, Henckel worked for more than two years as an account development representative in South Jersey FCU's business development department. In that capacity, he managed a territory of more than 100 select employee groups, focusing on relationship management to further member growth with each SEG.

SJFCU also named Sandra LaCourse to the position of assistant branch manager of its Moorestown office. In her new position, LaCourse assists in overseeing the daily operations and staff of the Moorestown office.

Prior to joining the credit union, LaCourse worked for more than seven years at Citizens-Union Savings Bank in Massachusetts, focusing on operational efficiency and staff development. She began working at SJFCU in early 2007 as a part-time member service representative at the Voorhees branch.

SOUTH

Coastal Federal Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., announced that Terry Woodlief has joined the organization as vice president of mortgage lending. Woodlief is a past president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas and most recently served as senior vice president and commercial account manager for a large regional bank. He brings to Coastal more than 30 years of mortgage lending experience. His other previous positions include chief operating officer and chief executive officer of various mortgage banking firms. Coastal Federal Credit Union also announced that it has promoted Rick Mullen to senior vice president/chief lending officer. In his new role, Mullen will report directly to President and CEO Larry Wilson and will be responsible for overseeing all of Coastal's lending activities. Mullen joined Coastal in September 2008 as the vice president of mortgage solutions. He has 29 years of banking experience, including more than 22 years in the residential mortgage banking business. He has served as a chief financial officer, chief lending officer and director of strategic planning for several banking organizations and has managed all aspects of residential mortgage banking.

MIDWEST

Royal Credit Union, Eau Claire, Wis., has named Brandon Riechers vice president of consumer lending and collections. He will oversee consumer lending business lines and the collection department of RCU. Riechers joined the credit union in September of 1996 and has held the positions of financial sales representative, loan officer, technology resource specialist, operations coordinator and, most recently, director of consumer lending.

WEST

HAPO Community Credit Union, Richland, Wash., announced that Scott Mitchell has been promoted to vice president of consumer lending. Mitchell has been employed by HAPO for nearly four years and is responsible for all divisions of HAPO consumer lending, which includes automobile and recreational vehicle financing, credit cards, and loan underwriting and support.

Greater Nevada Credit Union, Carson City, Nev., announced that its subsidiary, Greater Nevada Mortgage Services, has hired Cathie Jackson as its newest mortgage consultant. In this position, Jackson is a regional field representative who offers professional advice and support to current mortgage customers and people seeking information about Greater Nevada's mortgage products. Jackson has been professionally involved in the mortgage business for more than 25 years as the owner-broker of Mortgage Options of Carson City. In her new position, Jackson will continue to promote the mortgage products that she has previously represented in her own business.

Altura Credit Union, Riverside, Calif., has named Corona resident Kathy Thayer as its new controller. She takes over the role for Hugo Silva, who was promoted to chief financial officer last year. Thayer has more than 30 years' experience in the financial services industry. Most recently she was director of accounting for WesCorp in San Dimas, Calif., where she managed a staff of 11. Key responsibilities included financial reporting, subsidiary reporting, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets and other general accounting functions. Prior to joining WesCorp in 2001, Thayer held management accounting positions at a number of local banks and credit unions.

Mountain America Credit Union, Salt Lake City, announced that Branch Manager Ken Meyers has relocated from the West Valley branch to the Centerville branch. He has worked in financial services for more than 27 years, spending the past three years at Mountain America Credit Union.

Today the credit union serves more than 322,000 members and holds more than $2.8 billion in assets.
