Delta Community Credit Union will be providing its members with mobile banking through text messaging, mobile browser or Web download software with a new solution from Fiserv Inc.
The $3.5 billion Atlanta credit union has adopted the Mobile Money service, which Fiserv said provides access to all three mobile access channels available now and can be modified to handle additional capabilities as the market evolves.
"Delta Community Credit Union has a diverse membership base, and a large number of our members travel frequently. We were looking for a mobile banking solution that could serve all of our members, regardless of their location, mobile device or carrier," said Todd Marksberry, executive vice president and chief operating officer of 186,000-member Delta Community (www.deltacommunitycu.com).
Fiserv said the Mobile Money solution is designed for mid-sized to large financial institutions and supports balance inquiries, transaction history, account transfers, bill payments and an array of enrollment and alert capabilities.
The technology is offered through a license from M-Com Inc., the companies said.
Redstone Veteran Technologist Retires
The chief technologist at Alabama's largest credit union is saying goodbye after 39 years on the job.
When Steve White joined Redstone Federal Credit Union in March 1970, one of the first things he did was help flip the switch on the credit union's new computer system.
"We entered the modern world of computer technology as we flipped the switch to turn on the Burroughs. And it's amazing that we have more computer technology in our cell phones today than was available in that Burroughs system back in 1970. It's been great to be a part of the technological changes that have occurred at Redstone over the years," he said.
White is retiring from $2.6 billion Redstone after 39 years with the credit union. His final role was as vice president of technology. He joined as a computer operator and also was a programmer and manager of information technology.
In addition to his long service to Huntsville-based Redstone, White has been active with the Summit User Group, Alabama Automated Clearing House Association, NAFCU Technology Advisory Committee and CUES. He also served in the Army Reserve and has been active in other civic affairs.
"I've had the privilege of working with Steve for more than 16 years at Redstone and he has served this credit union and the community well. Steve's knowledge and expertise in the technological aspects of credit union operation has significantly contributed to our growth as one of the strongest financial institutions in Alabama," said Redstone President/CEO Joe Newberry.
White, a sixth-generation resident of Madison County, said he plans to spend time with his family, church and antique tractors, and that he has enjoyed the ride.
"It's been a terrific experience," White said. "I've watched us evolve from the early Burroughs computer system to remote access, personal computers, the Internet, and so much more. I've gotten to know people in this industry from all over the country and I've made a lot of wonderful friends. And now, I'm looking forward to a new chapter in my life."
