Alabama Telco Credit Union, Birmingham, Ala., announcedthe hiring of Scott Lazore as branch manager for its new Helenalocation. Lazore comes from Regions Bank and has been in bankingfor over five years. The Helena branch marks the sixteenth locationfor the credit union in the state and the ninth in the Birminghamarea.

Redstone Federal Credit Union, Huntsville, Ala., has namedLiz Ponder vice president, direct retail. Ponder, who has more than13 years of experience in the financial services industry, isresponsible for the overall management and operations of directretail, including branch operations, real estate and financialcounseling. Her primary focus is in-branch delivery of products andservices that meet members' financial needs.

Virginia Credit Union, Richmond, Va., announced that itsPresident/CEO Jane Watkins was named the 2009 Outstanding Woman inBusiness by the YWCA of Richmond, which cited her leadership of thecredit union and its role in promoting financial literacy in thecommunity. Watkins' commitment to this issue led Virginia CreditUnion to hire a full-time educator in 2007 to teach financialliteracy in schools, colleges and the community. In 18 months, morethan 10,900 young people and adults learned money management skillsthrough the credit union's seminars, workshops and classes.

Credit Union of Georgia, Woodstock, Ga., announced thepromotion of Rebecca Cooper to director of business development. Inher new position, Cooper will be responsible for leading thebusiness development team in identifying and developingopportunities to serve new member groups as well as maintainingrelationships with existing member groups. Cooper rejoined thecredit union in 2008 as a member solutions representative afterhaving previously worked as its marketing manager.

Insight Financial Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., announcedthat Sanna S. Henderson has retired after serving on the board ofdirectors for many years. Henderson helped lead the credit union asit grew to 11 branches and was present for the merger of LakeCounty Schools Credit Union with Bell-Tel Credit Union into InsightFinancial Credit Union. Henderson has been active within thecommunity as a Lake County school teacher for almost 20 years and acity commissioner for Leesburg, as well as mayor of Leesburg.

MIDWEST

Consumers Credit Union, Kalamazoo, Mich., promoted ChironHerweg to office manager of the credit union's Westnedge Avenueoffice in Portage. He previously worked as a member servicesrepresentative for Consumers. Herweg, a Kalamazoo resident, is agraduate of Michigan State University with a degree in publicrelations and is active with Pretty Lake Camp.

Community Federal Credit Union, Las Vegas, announced thehire of two home loan consultants. Matthew Lorenzen gained fiveyears of experience as Community's mortgage specialist and threeyears in mortgage lending at other credit unions beforetransitioning into the Member Advantage Mortgage position. MarcosEspinoza has spent the past six years in the mortgage industry andis active in the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce. Lorenzen andEspinoza are knowledgeable in all loan programs offered through thecredit union and will help borrowers determine which is best fortheir unique situation.

San Antonio Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, announcedthat Daniel Lopez has joined its lending team as first vicepresident and senior business operations manager for mortgagelending. Lopez was the regional business manager for Fannie Maebased in San Antonio for the past 10 years. He previously was anexecutive director with Habitat for Humanity International,developing and managing affiliates that built and sold homes inrural areas of the United States, Mexico andHonduras.

CommonWealth Central Credit Union, San Jose,Calif., announced that Brian Horiuchi, a registered representativeaffiliated with broker-dealer and SEC registered investment adviserCUSO Financial Services LP, achieved Silver Pacesetter status in2008. The award honors the top-producing registered representativesamong CFS' 130-plus credit union programs. Horiuchi was creditedwith generating significant revenue while providing high-qualityfinancial and retirement planning services to CommonWealth members.He has served the credit union membership for over 10 years.

Cyprus Credit Union, Salt Lake City, announcedthat its Business Development Officer Karen Seo was named 2008'sBusiness Woman of the Year by the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce.Seo was chosen for her significant contributions to the West Jordancommunity; most notably she served as chair of the chamber'sambassador committee. Seo is a member of the West Jordan Women InBusiness organization, a board member for Chamberwest, an advisoryboard member for the Academy of Finance for Granite and JordanSchool Districts, and a board member for 100% For Kids credit unioncharity.

Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif., announced theappointment of Eric Maldonado as community involvement officer.Maldonado will be responsible for managing a positive and visiblerelationship for Travis Credit Union in Contra Costa Countycommunities by representing the credit union at community andindustry-related events and promoting credit union products andservices.
