On June 2, Credit Union Times reported that the Table Rock Credit Union faced the possible loss of its building due to a problem with upgrading a water treatment system serving the strip mall where it is located.
The report was based on a message Table Rock manager Regina McIlrath sent to a community development listserv that described the challenge the Shell Knob credit union and other merchants in the strip mall faced meeting a government mandated to upgrade to the strip mall's water treatment system. The message read in part: "If we do not do as they want, they will close down the entire shopping center and there go all our businesses, such as they are in this economy."
The credit union has since called to clarify the story. Table Rock has a backup plan and location already identified if the current strip mall where it is housed is forced to close.
