The $1.6 billion Space Coast Credit Union has launched a program to allow members to donate 50% of the points they earn on specially marked credit and debit cards to go to support research against breast cancer.
The pink credit cards carry a 5.99% interest rate for the first six months, the credit union said. Existing cardholders who wish to participate can switch their cards to the donor cards and benefit from the interest rate on balances transferred from other cards.
The donations go to the Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation.

"The results are proving to be significant. Based on current member use of the cards, we expect at least $2,000 per month as the donation to the foundation. Our members are showing great interest in supporting the breast cancer and survivor awareness campaign," said Teresa Farnsworth, SCCU vice president of card services and operations. "Many of our members are cancer survivors or have family members who are cancer survivors. Many have also lost friends and family to cancer."
