Michigan First Credit Union is now offering its 71,000 members an Internet banking Web site that includes the features of personal finance management software. The $486 million credit union in the Detroit suburb of Lathrup Village worked with tech CUSO Jwaala LLC of Texas to create the new service at www.michiganfirst.com. The service provides at-home check scanning, alerts by mobile text or e-mail, free bill pay, account transfers, transaction histories, credit-score tracking and enhanced security features, along with budgeting and reporting functions and live chat with Michigan First support staff. The 71,000 member credit union serves members in 44 Michigan communities. Jwaala, a CUSO of Amplify FCU in Austin, rolled out its MoneyTracker solution in 2007. “At first, I thought using online banking might be a little confusing, but after using it for just a few minutes I was excited to see all the tools I could use to help me manage my finances,” said long-time member Ricardo Thomas. “I immediately signed up to receive electronic statements and am now a true Michigan First online member.” Jwaala CEO Andrew Taylor said, “Michigan First members will now be able to enjoy the most advanced online banking services available anywhere, giving them a much clearer view into their finances with Google-like search capabilities, infinite alerting, and customizable financial dashboards.” A tutorial of the new system is viewable at www.michiganfirst.com/online.
