Community Financial Credit Union, Springfield, Mo., recently named Emilie Bell of Ozark and Tommy Goodwin Jr. of Niangua as the recipients of this year's Linzee W. Leonard scholarships. Each will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Both recipients were selected from among several highly qualified applicants.

Justice Federal Credit Union, Chantilly, Va., accepted applications from members for its second annual building futures across the nation scholarship competition. The credit union awarded $2,000 in scholarships to five deserving members graduating from high school this year or members currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning.

Belvoir Federal Credit Union, Woodbridge, Va. began accepting applications from members for this year's educational scholarship program. The credit union will award a $1,000 scholarship to a worthy member graduating in the spring and a $1,000 scholarship to a member who is presently enrolled in an accredited university, college or technical institution.

Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union, Chalfont, Pa., recently presented the Hoffman memorial award to five high school seniors at its annual meeting. This year's recipients were awarded $5,000 each. For 38 years the Hoffman memorial award has recognized high school seniors who are active in their community. Combined, the students contributed nearly 3,900 hours toward community service efforts.

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union, Clinton Township, Mich., announced it will offer members who are graduating high school seniors the chance to collect on one of six Rudolph Heino and Sallylou Cloyd scholarship awards. The students selected will each be given a one-time scholarship worth $2,000 to help them reach their educational goals.

Bayport Credit Union, Newport News, Va., announced it will award more than $50,000 in scholarships. The credit union is currently accepting applications from members this year's scholarship programs that award members with scholarship money. The four individual scholarships are as follows: the Beard/Bennett memorial scholarship, the tuition booster scholarship, the directors' scholarship and the Wiatt memorial scholarship.

United Teletech Financial Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls, N.J., announced its participation in a statewide credit union scholarship program through the New Jersey Union League's Youth Involvement Board offering credit union members the opportunity to win one of numerous scholarships with awards of $500 and $1,000. To be eligible, a student must be a high school senior and a member in standing with the credit union.
SAFE Credit Union, North Highlands, Calif., has dedicated $20,000 towards scholarships this year. As part of SAFE's scholarship program, 10 college bound high school seniors will each be awarded $1,000 for their outstanding achievements. Recipients are chosen based on exceptional grade point averages, community service and letters of recommendation.

Insight Financial Credit Union
, Orlando, Fla., in partnership with the Paul H. Higgs family awarded $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors at the credit union's annual meeting. To qualify, students had to be a member of the credit union in good standing, and be a graduating high school senior intending to further his or her education at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Teachers Federal Credit Union, Farmingville, N.Y., awarded Stony Brook State University undergraduate Qudsia Hussain, the 2008-09 Virginia Mulligan memorial scholarship. The full-tuition scholarship will assist Hussain in her academic quest. She is a member of the Honors College and was on the last year's spring and fall dean's lists.

Christian Community Credit Union, San Dimas, Calif., announced that the credit union's focused on the future scholarship program will award $40,000 in scholarship money this year. The scholarship program is open to members of the credit union. To be eligible, students must be enrolled at an accredited college, university or seminary.
