ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Edgar Callahan was such an important person in the history of the credit union movement that his service to it might continue in Heaven, NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel suggested yesterday.

In a tribute to Callahan's life and work during brief remarks at the end of yesterday's NCUA board meeting Fryzel praised his contributions to almost every aspect of credit unions and suggested that his work may not be done.

"They say that there is a special place in Heaven for credit union people. I don't know if that's true but if it's not by the time we get there he'll have made sure that there is," Fryzel said.
