Municipal Credit Union, New York, awarded 52 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The top two students, Justine R. Tasolides was the winner of the Charles Faulding Memorial Scholarship and Anegla Lelo was the winner of the Julian I. Garfield Memorial Scholarship. They each won a $5,000 scholarship. Students were judged on academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, references and an essay about their personal goals.GTE Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., awarded $2,500 scholarships to five members who were just graduating from high school, preparing to enter college, attending a technical school or college as an undergraduate, or pursuing graduate and doctorate-level studies. The winners included Pete Eby, who is pursuing a degree in computer networking at St. Petersburg College, Supriya Krishnan, who is an MBA student at the University of Tampa, Meghan Ferrall, who is majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Florida, Barbara Suarez, who is pursuing a radiation therapy degree from Hillsborough Community College, and Lindsey Vani, a branch manager and former teller who currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in management from American Military University.Members Advantage Credit Union, Michigan City, Ind., announced the winner of the Leona Bruno scholarship award. The winner was Robert Braddy who is attending Purdue University North Central to study business administration. Braddy received the scholarship based on his scholastic excellence, personal integrity, active participation in and service to the school he attends as well as his contributions to his community. The scholarship is awarded in memory of Leona Bruno, the first manager of Members Advantage Credit Union.Western Division Federal Credit Union, Williamsville, N.Y., announced its plan to award a total of $6,500 in scholarships in 2009. The credit union will award eight high school seniors a $750 scholarship. Each applicant will be judged on his or her four-year cumulative academic performance, community service, leadership roles and an essay. The top winner that has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the community will be awarded an additional $500.
