WASHINGTON — Executives whose companies' process credit and debit cards for credit unions and who are attending CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference say they are almost certain that there is another card data security breach in the works, but declined to speak for the record about where the breach might be.

One confirmed only that his company believed the breach has taken place at a processor rather than at an individual retailer. The sources also said it us unclear whether the data breached included the most sensitive card data that often leads to fraud.

Credit union executives who said they have already been notified about a potential second breach said they were not sure what was actually occurring since a significant number of cards identified in the second breach had already been compromised in the Heartland breach.
