LOS ALAMOS, N.M. — Members of the $312 million Del Norte Credit Union who believe credit union members need an elected supervisory committee have received another set back.
The credit union's Nominations and Elections Committee has declined to nominate Charles Montano as a candidate for a seat on the credit union's board, even though Montano is director of fraud and special audits for the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor, a former federal bank examiner, former member of the CU's (then elected) supervisory committee and member of the CU for 25 years.
Further, the committee has declined to nominate Eliud Vigil, a sitting board member and former board chairman, for a seat on the Board. Vigil reportedly had objected to the board's previous decision to dissolve the previously elected supervisory committee and replace it with an appointed committee, even though balloting in elections for the committee was then underway, last year.
