ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Credit Union Network recently launched a statewide fraud prevention campaign aimed at educating the public on how to recognize and report scams. The campaign is part of the Minnesotaa Fraud Enforcement Partnership's "No More Minnesota Nice" campaign. The Minnesota Fraud Enforcement Partnership is a network of state organizations that include the MnCUN, banks, law enforcement agencies and community groups. The partnership uses a Web site, www.mnscams.org, and educational materials to deliver a unified educational message to Minnesotans about fraud.Rachel Kuenzel, liaison for MnCUN, said that they will slowly be rolling out the campaign to Minnesota credit unions by launching a Web site and distributing education materials. The educational materials will include basic information, how to report scams to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and will direct members to the Web site."Every day scammers target thousands of Minnesota consumers in hopes that they will fall for the scams," said Mark D. Cummins, MnCUN president/CEO. "Right now there is a great need for fraud education, and the need will only continue to grow as the economy continues to struggle. For that reason the Minnesota Credit Union Network is committed to working with credit unions to educate consumers about how to identity and report scams."The educational materials will come from the Minnesota Fraud Enforcement Partnership so all credit unions will receive the same materials. Credit unions will have posters, table tents for teller windows and screens for credit unions to put up on their televisions.–[email protected]
