WASHINGTON – Sen. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.) a key player on housing issues, said today he will not seek a fifth term when he is up for re-election in 2010.

In 1972, I became Missouri's youngest Governor. Ladies and Gentlemen, I do not aspire to become Missouri's oldest Senator," Bond said in a statement.

The news would create a competitive open Senate seat in a battleground state next year.
