WASHINGTON – Actor Gary Sinise, whose Lt. Dan Band will be performing at the opening night of CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference, was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal earlier this month.

Sinise, who was honored for his work entertaining American troops and for bringing school supplies to Iraqi children, was one of 23 people honored during an Oval Office ceremony on Dec. 10.

The award describes Sinise as a "humanitarian and a patriot" and honored him for his "efforts to improve the human condition and his strong commitment to the selfless men and women who devote their lives to military service."
