TREVOSE, Pa. — TruMark Financial Credit Union held a money management workshop for an underserved community where the credit union will be opening a branch next year. Credit union representatives held the workshop at the Asociaci?n de Puertorrique?os en Marcha’s community development office and discussed developing good savings habits. The neighborhood has been without a financial institution for 60 years. The credit union plans to open a branch in the area in 2009 and expects to play a large role in providing 44% of low-income families living below poverty level with no-cost or low-cost financial products and services. “Families will have the convenience of cashing their paychecks, purchasing money orders and applying for a loan right in their neighborhood, without the high fees attached,” said Richard Stipa, Trumark CEO. “Trumark Financial will have a strong presence in the community and looks forward to working with the APM to help residents reach their financial goals.” Representatives explained the products the credit union offers to attendees and answered questions. Attendees expressed interest in the credit union’s no-cost checking account, free bill payer product and no-annual-fee credit card.
