BURLINGTON, Vt. — There is new leadership at Vermont FederalCredit Union.
Bernard P. Isabelle has recently been named president/CEO of the$226 million credit union. Isabelle will replace longtime CEOJoseph M. Finnigan, who has served as the credit union's leadersince 1978 and announced his retirement earlier this year.
Isabelle comes from Pittsfield, Mass.-based Greylock Federal CreditUnion, where he served as both the senior vice president/chieffinancial officer and the senior vice president/chief investmentofficer. He also formed and served as treasurer of Greylock's twowholly owned subsidiaries.
He has an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut andgraduated with honors, magna cum laude, with his B.S. in accountingfrom the University of Vermont. He also graduated with distinctionfrom the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School ofBanking.
While working for Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in Hartford,Conn., he received his CPA.
No stranger to the financial services industry, Isabelle alsopreviously served as a senior-level executive at several northeastfinancial institutions, including Sikorsky Federal Credit Union andFirst Federal Savings & Loan of East Hartford, buildingextensive experience in investments, financial reporting, budgetingand expense control, asset/liability management, strategicplanning, insurance, and audits in addition to his operationalresponsibilities.
Outgoing President/CEO Joseph Finnigan, who is also boardtreasurer, will be assisting in the transition through the firstquarter of 2009.
