California/Nevada Youth Involvement Network, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., awarded $500 scholarships to three high school and college students from California and Nevada. The network is a volunteer organization supported by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues. The winners were Jade Ashley Gelskey, Branden Karlen and Emily Morelli. Each received the scholarship for their essays on "What can you or your credit union do to encourage today's youth to join and take advantage of credit union products and services."Hershey Federal Credit Union, Hershey, Pa., awarded the $1,000 Richard E. Fogleman memorial scholarship to Hannah Becker. Becker has been a member of HFCU since 2000 and is attending Bloomsburg University, studying audiology and speech pathology. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 1996 to honor the memory of Richard E. Fogleman, who served as HFCU's chairman of the board of directors for many years prior to his death in 1994.

Texas Federal Credit Union, Dallas, announced the winners of its first annual high school scholarship awards program. Winners were chosen based on membership, academic achievement, character and leadership, personal essays and letters of recommendation. Kandice Reed and Zachary Saucier both received the $1,000 scholarship.Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union, Northfield, N.J., awarded Lauren Mason, Kayla Marie Reynods and Evelyn Ross its $1,000 scholarship and grant award. Mason was selected as the $1,000 Benson/Hunt scholarship recipient. Reyonds was the $1,000 community college scholarship recipient. Ross was the $1,000 education exchange 2008 college grant recipient.

Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union, Los Angeles, awarded a total of $15,000 in scholarships to its members. Matthew Lussier was the top scholarship award winner with a $5,000 scholarship. Eugenie Bernard, Amanda Hovey, Jamie Long and Michael Rodriguez were each awarded $2,500 scholarships. Applicants were scored on their academic achievements, community involvement and their essay discussing leadership qualities.Berks Community Federal Credit Union, Reading, Pa., announced the winners of its 2008 scholarship contest. Leah Romay and Vanessa Strohl were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. The winners were selected based on academic performance, commitment to their community and their response to the essay questions "What it means to belong to Berks Community Federal Credit Union."
