MidSouth Federal Credit Union, Macon, Ga., announced the recipients of its 2008 Tom Bentley memorial high school and continuing education scholarship programs. Amanda Gregg was awarded the 2008 high school scholarship. Gregg is a graduate of Georgia Military College Prep School and is attending Valdosta State University. The high school scholarship is a $4,000 award that is paid in installments of $1,000 per year. Andrea Dinkens was awarded the 2008 continuing education scholarship. Dinkens recently completed her associates degree in paralegal studies at Central Georgia Technical College. Her future plans are to obtain her health and life insurance licenses at CGTC and complete her bachelor's degree in pre-law at Georgia College and State University. The continuing education scholarship is a $2,000 award that is paid in installments of $500 per year.

Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo. awarded $26,000 in art scholarships to 370 students from nine school districts. Air Academy awarded scholarships to students in grades K-12. Students were allowed to enter any medium or artwork created during class. The winners were selected by a panel of judges based on originality.

Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, Brooklyn, N.Y., ended its annual scholarship program this year by donating a total of $300,000 to more than 250 high school and college students. Over the past seven years, PSFCU has handed out more than $1.3 million to over 800 students. The credit union earmarks approximately $4 per member toward scholarships annually. PSFCU handed out scholarships at two events. The first was at a gala event where scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 were handed out to 144 undergraduate and graduate-level students. In another event, the credit union teamed up with the Credit Union Association of New York to award 115 college-bound high school graduates scholarships that ranged from $500 to $1,750. Additionally, PSFCU awarded financial grants to 20 grade school children from the Polish Supplementary School Council of America. The grants helped cover the costs of the children's participation in a science camp this past summer.

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union, Clinton Township, Mich., granted three "adults moving forward" college scholarships to adult college student members who are registered at a Michigan college, university, trade or vocational school or accredited certification program. The scholarships were valued up to $2,000 each. The recipients were Vickie Galvin, Christy Berriman-Sauve and Brian Tyrell.

North Jersey Federal Credit Union, Totowa, N.J., announced that credit union member Byron Londono was the recipient of the New Jersey Credit Union League scholarship. Londono was chosen from over 250 applicants from 34 credit unions. The league awarded six $1,000 scholarships. Three scholarships were given to students attending four-year universities and three scholarships were given to students attending community colleges or trade schools. Londono is attending the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Velocity Credit Union, Austin, Texas, held a reception to present its 15th annual Velocity Credit Union scholarship awards. Nine scholarships were awarded to credit union members. Three were awarded to high school seniors and six were awarded to past winners who are continuing in college. To date, Velocity Credit Union has awarded more than $93,000 in scholarships. The Royal G. Wilson memorial scholarship was awarded to Carlos Galvan. The Lumuel Hunter scholarship was awarded to Emily Jaso. The Tom Eaton memorial scholarship was awarded to Andrea Treckman. The six additional students that received the Robert Wilder memorial scholarships were Nicolas Arredondo, Kevin Davis, Kasey Ruedas and Jennifer Hewitt.
