PENSACOLA, Fla. — Funeral arrangements are pending for John A. Davis Jr., 52, president/CEO of Pen Air Federal Credit Union who died Sunday.
“We are very sad for such a great loss, not just for Pen Air, but for the entire credit union industry and our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Davis' family,” said Ron Fields, named as interim CEO.
Davis had over 26 years of CU experience and served as CEO of the $929 million Pen Air since June 1998. He was a graduate of Troy State University.
Davis was active in the Florida Credit Union League, the Credit Union Executives Society, the NAFCU and other trade groups.
Davis supported many non-profit and community organizations, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Societ, and Emerald Coast Honor Flight.
Pen Air “attributes much of its growth and success to Davis' leadership and guidance,” said a press statement. Pen Air won a number of awards under Davis' leadership, including a top safety rating from Bauer Financial, Inc., the Florida Credit Union League's Dora Maxwell Award for Community Responsibility and the Defense Credit Union Council's Navy-Marine Corps Credit Union of the Year Award.
