SHREVEPORT, La. — In honor of International Credit Union Day, contributions from African-Americans to the movement will be on display at an upcoming exhibit.
The African American Credit Union Coalition has created an exhibit that offers a glimpse into the industry's evolution over the first 100 years. The unveiling will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Oct.16 at America's Credit Union Museum in Manchester, N.H.
In August, the AACUC offered a sneak preview of the exhibit at its annual conference in Houston.

"African Americans' influence have significantly shaped politics, institutions, traditions, religious practices, educational institutions, healthcare and even the building of the credit union system in the United States," said Helen Godfrey-Smith, committee chairwoman of the AACUC archive project and president/CEO of Shreveport FCU. "International Credit Union Day seemed to be the most appropriate day to officially contribute this exhibit to the museum."
