MADISON, Wis. — Can't afford to pay for the CUES CEO Network event in early November? No problem, just show up and pay what you can.
In an effort to encourage credit union collaboration and hopefully, success in a tough economy, CUES announced a new "pay what you can" scale for its CEO Network conference, which normally runs around $1,000 for members.
"Basically, if a credit union can't afford the conference fees, they can pay nothing, or $100 or $300, whatever they can afford," said Christopher Stevenson, professional development manager.

Stevenson said conference enrollment is down a bit from last year, but the new policy isn't aimed just filling seats. Instead, CUES is sacrificing revenue so that it may assist the industry in finding some answers to common problems through collaboration. Stevenson said his staff will be providing plenty of one-on-one private meeting rooms for credit union executives who wish to cut a deal on the spot in Las Vegas.
"If organizations like CUES aren't willing to step up and facilitate this type of discussion, who will?" Stevenson said.
