I read with great interest the Sept. 3 Editor-in-Chief column, which talked about the Homes for Our Troops projects, coordinated in conjunction with the two national conventions. I was disappointed, however, to see that Minnesota's project was barely mentioned.
I am proud to have been the chair of Minnesota's Homes for Our Troops fundraising committee, and I am even more proud of the successful efforts and amount of money raised by the credit unions of our state. With $350,000 raised from credit unions, partners and organizations around the country, more than a third of the overall total came directly from Minnesota credit unions through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. According to CUNA's projections from August, Minnesota raised three times more than any other state in the country!
In addition, nearly 300 people turned out for the project's two volunteer days to donate their time and energy to the initiative.

Homes for Our Troops has been a terrific project to be involved in, and I feel it has illustrated the commitment of credit unions and the heart of Minnesotans. I am proud to include myself among the list of Minnesota credit unions who helped to ensure this project's success.
