SUITLAND, Md. — To help soldiers recover from injuries in a comfortable setting, Andrews Federal Credit Union became the sponsor of a second Warrior Transition Unit, this time at the Wiesbaden Army Garrison in Germany.

The suite includes a sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette, and small living room for a single occupant. Andrews FCU has provided the d?(C)cor including linens, toiletries, and laundry items. A commissary gift card is also donated by the credit union for the purchase of food items. A soldier's recovery can range from a few months a year with some returning to active duty and others preparing for the civilian sector, according to the credit union.

“We sponsored the first Warrior Transition Unit earlier in the year and wanted to do more to assist the soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Andrews Federal President/CEO Chris McDonald, who spoke at a Sept. 5 dedication ceremony in Germany.

Marking the occasion, McDonald thanked the Andrews FCU overseas staff, Wiesbaden Army Garrison Command Team, WTU Cadre and Army Community Service staff for making the soldiers comfortable and safe during their stay at the transition unit.
