PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J. — A new study from the Smart Card Alliance shows that contactless card popularity has continued to grow among consumers.
The study, which the Smart Card Alliance commissioned, found that 9% of the U.S. population has a contactless credit or debit card and reported that the number of contactless cards in circulation increased to 35 million in 2007, up from 19 million in 2006.
Javelin Strategy and Research conducted the survey among two groups, polling 1,500 consumers representing online consumers and 500 contactless credit and debit card users.
