BELLEVUE, Wash. -- A recent Coinstar/ Kelton Research credit union member experience poll found that when it comes to creating a better branch experience, members are looking for more options.

According to the poll, 64% of credit union members would take advantage of financial or related services not traditionally provided by their branch, if offered. Financial planning and accounting and tax advice were among the most desired.

Many credit union account holders also said they would welcome such nonbanking services as postal services (46%), computer and printing services (35%) or even such extras as a snack bar (15%) or a neck and shoulder massage (13%).

In addition, the feel of the branch matters, with 42% of credit union accountholders saying they'd prefer a change of environment at their financial institution and would model it after retailers. Some 63% of respondents describe their credit union as efficient and 62% described the general atmosphere inside their financial institution as "warm and welcoming." Respondents also said they like a personal touch in their credit union and some 68% of account holders prefer to stand in line for a teller than for an ATM machine.
