GOLDEN, Colorado — After several months of work by the creditunion community and its partners, CUNA presented the keys to a newhome to Iraq War Veteran Travis Strong today.

“Nothing can personify what credit unions are all about morethan what's happening here,” CUNA President Dan Moca said duringthe ceremony.

The home is custom equipped for Strong, who lost both legs whileserving in Iraq.

“Wow, I didn't expect this.It's special,” he said after touringthe furnished home with his wife and two children.

The home is one of 30 homes for injured war veterans, whoseconstruction is coordinated by Homes for our Troops, a Boston-areabased non profit.

In addition to the new home, Strong got an extra bit of goodnews this week. Last night Lockheed Martin offered him a job as amanagement trainee at their Littleton facility, about 35 miles fromhere.
