DULUTH, Ga. — Georgia credit unions have come together to raise more than $34,000 to help those Iowa credit unions affected by the recent summer floods.

The Georgia Credit Union Foundation said it contributed $5,000 and more than $29,000 came from the state's credit unions.

The Iowa Credit Union Foundation will disburse 100% of the monies to credit unions and members throughout Iowa, GCUF said. Floods in May and June caused an estimated $10 billion in damage, left 13 dead, 65,000 injured and displaced hundreds of people.
