NEW YORK — More details have come to light about a government informant's alleged role in the large card data breaches of the last three years.
According to a story in the New York Times, federal investigators working with confidential informant Alberto Gonzelez to look into another credit card counterfeiting conspiracy discovered that Gonzalez, age 27, was the ringleader of the conspiracy which had hacked into major card retailers here, the government has alleged in indictments.
Gonzalez lawyer has denied the charges for his client, said the client's family is in shock according to the Times. The Times also reported that two other US citizens named in the indictments, Christopher Scott, 25, and Damon Toey, 23, were expected to turn themselves into authorities in Miami soon.
