DULUTH, Ga. — Iowa credit unions still working to get back on their feet following the recent summer floods will receive $34,000 from Georgia credit unions and the Georgia Credit Union Foundation to help with their efforts.
The foundation said it contributed $5,000 and more than $29,000 came from the state's credit unions. The Iowa Credit Union Foundation will disburse 100% of the monies to credit unions and members throughout Iowa, GCUF said.
According to the Iowa Credit Union League, the contribution by Georgia credit unions is among the top five in the nation among the credit union movement, GCUF said. The funds will help fulfill the Iowa league's more than 2,100 requests for assistance, of which 800 have been met thus far.
