Langley Federal Credit Union, Newport News, Va., presented fourmembers with the Galaxy Graduate $5,000 College Scholarship award.The four recipients were Alex Chen, Sydney Giblin, Benno Lee andAngela Zhang. Chen attended York High School and has been acceptedto Stanford University where he will major in mathematics andphysics. Giblin attended Jamestown High School and was ranked No. 1in her class of 356. She will attend MIT to study aerospace andmechanical engineering. Lee attended York High School and NewHorizon's Governor's School and plans to study electricalengineering and computer science. Zhang attended York High Schooland strives to work with the UN Intergovernmental OceanographicCommission studying tsunamis in order to minimize theireffects.

Neighbors Credit Union, St. Louis, announced the 17th annualClarence L. Hagemann Scholarship Contest winners. Neighbors awardeda total of $4,800 this year and has awarded a total of $31,100 overthe past 17 years. The four scholarship winners were awarded $1,200each. The recipients were Kacy Carr, Emily Martin, Kaitlan Pruggerand Katherine Valli. Carr, Martin and Valli will attend TrumanState University in Kirksville, Mo., in the fall and Prugger willattend the University of Missouri-Columbia. The scholarship wasopen to all My.Bux members. My.Bux is for all Neighbor's membersbetween the ages of 13 and 19. Each participant had to submit andessay entry on: If you were given the opportunity to spend anevening with any person, living, deceased or fictional, whom wouldyou choose and why.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.,gave out $9,000 in scholarships. The Condon Scholarships areawarded annually in honor of former board member John Condon.Recipients are chosen based on academic record, extracurricularactivities and an essay. Five of the $1,500 awards went to memberswho will enter college in the fall. Those winners were ElizabethAlbany, Sarah Elizabeth Dargon, Kerry Lynch, Alison Reichard andCarmen Torres. Hanscom also gave out $1,500 to a student from theLowell High' Junior ROTC program, cadet Natalia Guisao, who plansto attend River College to study pre-law and criminal justice.
