POMONA, Calif. — Rick Hoffman, president/CEO of $43 million Inland Empire Credit Union, said he's open for business as usual, despite a 5.4 earthquake that was centered just 5 miles away.
Hoffman said after the shaking stopped, he went downstairs to check on his staff, who had taken cover but were fairly calm and collected. Other than another mild aftershock and frequent sirens from the firehouse across the street, things are already back to normal, he said.
Kinecta Federal Credit Union Media Officer Michael Nutt reported that all his branches checked in damage-free. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that officials downgraded the quake after an initial report of a 5.8 magnitude. No major damage has been reported in the city.
