CU Execs Rev Up Vehicles

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Card Services For Credit Unions has offered a number of different awards this year.

The latest of these were a 2008 Ford Mustang convertible to Alex Casillas. Casillas won the car in a raffle drawn from among those who had visited the CSCU booth at CUNA's Government Affairs Conference. This was the first year that CSCU gave away a car and the association reported that more than 1,100 credit union executives had entered the booth area to learn about CSCU products and services. During that time, they were also entered into the drawing. Four CU executives won Garmin brand navigation systems as well, CSCU reported.

In addition, CSCU has announced that the $61 million TECU Credit Union from Wichita, Kan., won $5,000 as part of a balance transfer contest the association ran. Almost 170 credit unions received kits from CSCU that offered plans how-to tips on balance transfer promotions. At the same time they were entered into the contest and the CU generating the most balance transfers between Jan. 31 and March 31 won the $5,000 prize. TECU saw its average card balances increase from just over $1,700 to more than $2,000 over that period. The CU also saw an increase of 33% in their total outstanding balances, according to the association.
