SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood announced the launch of a new agency initiative to NAFCU Annual Convention goers yesterday. Blueprint 20/20 will help credit unions attract a new generation of interns, new hires, volunteers and members to the industry.

Hood said the program will include soon-to-be-released "blueprint" information that advises credit unions how to create college internship programs that benefit both the student and the institution, and how to be included in college recruitment events.

"Most of us here have had long, successful careers in credit unions." Hood said. "I think our young people today need to have the opportunity learn about the valuable career opportunities in credit union system, and Blueprint 20/20 will help you."

Hood said credit unions shouldn't overlook the opportunity to attract young members by offering college loans.
