NEW YORK — People want the opportunity to do the best work in a trustful environment, motivational speaker Richard Hadden told attendees at CUNA's America's Credit Union Conference and Expo today.
Effective leaders are those who give clear purpose and direction and act in a competence and authentic manner, he said. He said managers will get the most out of their employees if on a regular basis they ask members of their team to tell them something that the boss is wrong about and also if they regularly check in with their employees to see what they see so that are all the employees are on the same page.
He also said that another way to make organizations more effective is to remove systemic barriers that prevent people from doing their jobs well and to give employees who don't normally have customer contact the opportunity to do that on a regular basis.
