COLUMBUS, Ohio — Corporate One Federal Credit Union has elected First Trust Credit Union President Ronald J. Budzinski; KEMBA Financial Credit Union President/CEO Gerald D. Guy; and PSE Credit Union President Janice L. Thomas to its board of directors.
The 2008 board officers are as follows: The Ohio Educational CU CEO Jerome R. Valco, chair; Guy, vice chair; Best Employees FCU President/CEO John J. Shirilla, treasurer; and Superior FCU CEO Phillip R. Buell, secretary.
Budzinski has served as president of First Trust CU since 1985. He currently serves on the board of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation and Xtend Inc. and is a member of the advisory board for the Mid-Size Credit Union CEO Roundtable. He is a past director of the Indiana Credit Union League, former member of the CUNA elections and balloting and corporate governance committees, and former Indiana representative with CUNA Mutual's owners advisory council.

Guy has served KEMBA Financial CU as president/CEO since 1989 and has served on Corporate One's board of directors since 2002. He is currently the chair of the Ohio Credit Union League Ohio Charter Task Force and the treasurer/secretary of the Ohio Credit Union Defense Coalition.
Thomas has been employed with PSE CU since 1986 and has served as president since 1991. She has served on Corporate One's board of directors since 1996, previously serving as chair and secretary. She presently serves on the board of American Share Insurance. Thomas has also served as a director for Primary Financial Company LLC and is past chair of the Ohio Credit Union League Renewal Committee.
Corporate One's board is composed of nine directors, each one elected by member credit unions to a three-year term.
American Heritage Celebrates Its 60th
PHILADELPHIA — American Heritage Federal Credit Union isn't the only one turning sixty this year!
On hand to help celebrate special guest Jerry Mathers, of "Leave It to Beaver" fame, also celebrates his 60th birthday in 2008.
Hundreds of credit union members enjoyed a day of family fun during the American Heritage FCU annual member appreciation day.
Each year American Heritage thanks and celebrates its loyal members with a complimentary day of fun for all to enjoy. American Heritage enhanced the event with a 60 vendor craft show. Members also had an opportunity to take pictures with Mathers, who was also available to sign autographs.
In addition, the credit union's annual Enter-prise car sale was held on the headquarters' grounds throughout the week. Children and adults alike played carnival games, enjoyed pony rides and lots of free food, had their faces painted, and entered raffles for tickets to a Phillies game, an iPod shuffle and other electronics. The credit union also gave members Colorado blue spruce seedlings to help them go green.
First Financial FCU Chairman Retires
LUTHERVILLE, Md. — The 55th annual meeting of First Financial of Maryland Federal Credit Union marked the end of an era as J. Wesley Bone concluded his 37 years of service as chairman of the board.
"Although it was a difficult decision, the time has come to take a step back and prepare for the next phase of life," said Bone.
He will continue to serve on the board as a director until his term expires in 2011. Rolland Kiracofe, former board vice chairman was elected chairman.
During Bone's tenure First Financial FCU grew from $2 million in assets and 4,000 members to its current size of more than $650 million and over 55,000 members. In addition to his time served as chairman, he was a director for 39 years and a member of the credit union for 48 years. Notable accomplishments during his service to First Financial FCU include an over 30-year relationship with the National Association of Credit Union Chairpersons, where he served as treasurer (1990-1993) and chairman of the Board (1993-1996). Through his association with this national organization and the Maryland Credit Union League (now known as the Maryland and D.C. Credit Union Association), he developed a local chapter of the Chairman's Association for the Baltimore/D.C. area.
In 2000 Bone was the first volunteer appointed to the board of directors of the Maryland and DC Credit Union Association. He was elected as chairman of the board in 2007 and continues in that position to date.
During this free time Bone is an active volunteer member of many organizations, including AARP, Meals on Wheels, the Lions Club, the Jarrettsville United Methodist Church, the Harford County Office on Aging Advisory Board and the Jarrettsville Friends of the Library.
NJ Gateway Re-Elects Two to Board
MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. — Two members of the NJ Gateway Federal Credit Union board of directors–John F. Harris and Peter Manfredo– were re-elected at the 39th annual meeting held recently.
Approximately 80 N.J. Gateway Credit Union members attended the dinner meeting.
Harris is a former business analyst with IBM, who began his tenure with N.J. Gateway as associate board member. In April 2004, Mr. Harris was elected to the board and appointed board secretary. He is a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics. Active in his community, Harris is a volunteer for Race for the Cure, an organization raising money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. He is a volunteer with Woodbridge Township's Christmas in April, a program to rehabilitate homes for low-income homeowners.
Manfredo has served the credit union industry for more than two decades in various management positions in the New Jersey, New York and Kansas trade associations. In addition, he has twice served as credit union CEO, including an interim term as CEO of N.J. Gateway FCU. He is a nationally recognized speaker on a variety of credit union issues and owns the first and only real estate program for credit union members.
