CAPITOLA, Calif. — At the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Bowl on the weekend of April 26 and 27, if you were Bowling for Kids' Sake, it didn't matter what your score was; the idea was to have fun and raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County. This annual event, which raised $108,000, provides over 25% of the annual budget and all proceeds support BBBS' mentoring programs throughout Santa Cruz County.

Bay Federal Credit Union, the largest member-owned financial institution on the Central Coast of California, was the main event sponsor. About 130 Bay Federal employees played on 26 teams and raised $10,048. Donna Moon, marketing events manager, led in pledges, securing commitments representing $800. Marie Cubillas, executive director, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County, said, "We are so honored and happy to be working in partnership with Bay Fed and its employees. Their level of commitment to making Santa Cruz a better place is inspiring to all of us at BBBS and the community as a whole."

"Bay Federal's most important value, a commitment to people helping people, extends beyond the office for each and every one of our employees," said Carrie Birkhofer, president/CEO of Bay Federal Credit Union. "We are very proud that 100% of our employees have volunteered in the community for the last five years." As a company, Bay Federal supports about 75 local organizations and schools each year.
