BILOXI, Miss. — Climaxing a year of study, the Mississippi Credit Union League said this week it will be launching its first CU awareness blitz this fall using a broad mix of TV, radio, print and billboards.
"Sometimes these things take a while to coalesce but now is the time we can launch a campaign," explained Charles Elliott, president/CEO of the 99-member trade group.
The ads, to be paid by $1 per member contributions of participating CUs, will be developed over the summer under guidance of a league task force which detailed plans for the $350,000 campaign during last week's annual convention held here.

The task force, he said, will determine which awareness campaigns on the market might fit the Mississippi market noting "there are a lot of good ones." He mentioned existing ones used by the California/Nevada, Utah and Alabama leagues as possibilities.
"Its fortunate we don't have to create our own," said Elliott noting the need for an awareness campaign was cited last fall during league "CEO Dialogue" meetings and evident in CUNA consumer research.
