HOBOKEN, N.J. — With the technological advancements and innovations in the financial industry credit unions are using the latest tools to move away from paper to electronic transactions.

The promotion of eStatements and electronic transactions posed the question of the fate of checks in the United States. Though the latest Credit Union Times online poll results show that despite continuing advancements in financial technology readers believe that checks will always be used in the United States.

The results we received to the question "The United States will be check-free by…" found that 54% of voters believed that this will never happen and there will always be checks. Twenty percent of voters believed that there is a check-free future for the United States and it will take place by 2020. Other voters (14%) felt that there will be a check-free United States by 2015, and 12% of voters felt that the United States will be check-free by 2030.
