AUSTIN, Texas — More than 80 people tuned into a recent Webcast held by the Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association (www.cuispa.org) to introduce a new vendor management program.

Called the VMAlliance, the consortium aims to bring credit unions and vendors together with the online tools and other resources to create best practices for managing the vendor due diligence process.

"We are very excited to see such strong support so quickly," said Kelly Dowell, executive director of Austin-based CUISPA.

"Since we introduced VMAlliance at the 2008 CUISPA Summit, we have received a lot of support from the community including many of the industry's largest and most influential credit unions. We have also begun receiving inquiries from CU vendors that want to be proactive in working with the industry towards better risk management," Dowell said.

He said the organization is seeking input during the development process and expects to launch the VMAlliance this spring. More Webcasts will be scheduled, Dowell said. More information is at www.vmalliance.com.
