ST LOUIS — Electro Savings Credit Union staffers are giving back to troops who helped save the life of fellow employee Joshua Eckhoff, who while serving in Iraq with the Army National Guard sustained a serious head injury.
"We were all so worried when we heard from Josh's mom that he was wounded," said Shawnacee Nevels, Eckhoff's former teller supervisor. "His mom sent us daily e-mails with his status, and thankfully Josh is recovering."
It was through these e-mails the staff learned how Eckhoff's fellow soldiers, still in Iraq, helped save his life.

Electro Savings CU staffers Julie Foulks and Dana Casey organized a collection drive for a thank you care package with the credit union covering shipping costs.
"We ended up with two huge boxes full of stuff. We collected everything from soap, socks and other necessities to snack foods, videos, games and books" said Foulks. "We just wanted Josh's unit to know how proud we are of them, and much we appreciate what they did for Josh and the sacrifices they are making for all of us."
This is the second time the credit union has sent care packages to the troops in Iraq. In November 2007, before his injury, the employees at Electro Savings sent Josh and his unit a similar shipment of items.
