FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — One of the BizKid$ is going to the White House to be honored by President Bush.
The event is April 16 at a ceremony recognizing Raphael Spiro, a Forest Hills, N.Y. book entrepreneur chosen as one of ten national recipients of the President's Environmental Youth Award sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency.
“Raphael is featured in Episode 105 of our BizKid$ series and we're excited to relay the news,” said RoxAnne Kruger, national BizKid$ project manager and senior vice president of the Washington Credit Union League.
Kruger has been serving as chief coordinator with CUs, state league foundations and the National Credit Union Foundation in the national branding promotion of the Public Broadcasting System series with an eye toward building publicity and widespread market penetration on PBS stations. The initial branding with CU taglines at the end of each half hour episode began appearing in January.
Kruger said the Seattle producers of the show who have been working with the CU BizKid$ coalition “have been asked to provide a clip of Raphael's segment on Biz Kid$ for airing at the White House ceremony.” Raphael is founder of a used book firm called Bedside Books. The Environmental Youth Award recognizes “young people across America for projects which demonstrate their commitment to the environment.”
