LAS VEGAS — Attendees of the NAFCU Technology and Security Conference last week took on a unique approach to learning about the security dangers of hackers.
Teams of CU professionals actually hacked into computer systems to view the world of computer hacking from the other side.
"If you know how to offense, it's much easier to play defense more effectively," said president of NAFCU Services Corp David Frankil.

The conference took place from Feb 24-26 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The hacking activity was a new addition to the conference called "The Extreme Hacker Challenge." The challenge was sponsored by Digital Defense and allowed IT experts to attempt to compromise a network to see how hackers illegally obtain information.
"Criminals lurking in cyberspace get and take control," Frankil said. "They have your e-mail address, credit number, ATM pin, and they use it."
