HOBOKEN, N.J. — The Credit Union Times recent poll on credit unions' intent to sell or keep their card portfolios has closed.
The Times unscientific poll reported that 20% of readers taking part in the survey intend to sell their portfolios.
While NCUA has not yet released 2007 year-end data, industry observers have noted that the pace of sales recorded through the third quarter of 2007 had markedly slowed. The Times poll number is also substantially higher than the percentage of credit unions which appear to have actually sold their portfolios in 2007, according to brokers and other CU card professionals. A full 61% responded they would not sell, while 19% were unsure.
