DUBLIN, Ireland — The Anti-Phishing Working Group has added an Ireland-based provider of global registry services to the cybercrime-fighting organization's steering committee.

Afilias, which has a U.S. office near Philadelphia, provides Internet technology for such domain registries as .info, .org, .aero, .mobi and .asia and a number of country code domains such as .in (India).

"In conjunction with the APWG, domain name registrars, and responsible members of the Internet community, Afilias is deploying advanced registry systems and procedures to proactively combat phishing, spam, and malware. We look forward to contributing operational intelligence and expertise to cybercrime fighters worldwide," said Greg Aaron, director of domain security for Afilias and a member of the APWG Steering Committee.
