RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. & TALAHASSEE, Fla. — The two biggest credit-union owned ATM networks in the U.S. each posted strong years in 2007.

CO-OP Financial Services, the parent CUSO for the credit union owned CO-OP Network reported that the network had a triple record year, with records set for the most transactions in a single day (6, 278,731 on Dec. 24), month (154 million in December) and year (1.6 billion).

“CO-OP has evolved from its roots as solely an ATM network to become the nation's largest credit union EFT network and processor,” said Stan Hollen, CEO of the California based CO-OP. “While the ATM business is still at the heart of our organization, nowadays, our innovative EFT services, strategic partnerships and growing membership also play a significant role in allowing us to achieve astounding transaction figures.”

Credit Union 23, the credit union owned ATM and point of sale transaction network headquartered in Tallahassee, reported processing 213.8 million transactions in 2007, a new annual record and posting a 15% increase in transaction volume over last year. The network also reported adding 27 new credit unions to the cooperative in 2007, including $4.5B Alliant Credit Union and $1.6B Tower Federal Credit Union.
