SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Sunmark Federal Credit Union and Assemblyman George Amedore are helping financial education take center stage.

"Financial education is a need that must be addressed in today's financial climate," said Sunmark FCU President/CEO Bruce M. Beaudette. "Sunmark feels a great commitment to assisting local residents and our members in their efforts to learn how to address financial issues and avoid the pitfalls of poor financial choices."

With an eye on raising financial literacy awareness and providing access to financial education, Sunmark FCU is currently working with the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority to provide financial education to low-and moderate-income families in Schenectady County.

The program, conducted in partnership with the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority, focuses on financial education that will help SMHA tenants with their efforts to become more financially savvy and make financially responsible choices.

"It's extremely important that people have the tools they need to successfully manage their finances and I applaud the efforts of Sunmark Federal Credit Union to assist Schenectady County residents. The way an individual or family manages their finances can have a dramatic impact on their quality of life and I am sure this program is a valuable educational asset to the residents at the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority," said Amedore.
