ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Card Services for Credit Unions, the association of credit unions which process their card transactions with Fidelity National Information Services has collaborated with Visa USA to put together a package of information credit unions can use if their cards are compromised in a data breach.

When a data compromise occurs, credit unions may be faced with managing both fraud losses and member service issues, the association said. From notifying members to responding to media questions, credit unions are on the front lines in their hometowns answering questions. Effective communication in these challenging situations is critical to maintaining member loyalty and protecting the credit union's good name. The free toolkit is a valuable resource offering communications best practices, as well as sample materials.

“In the most recent CSCU member surveys, fraud and risk management are two of the most commonly cited concerns facing our credit union members with respect to their card program,” said Robert Hackney, CSCU President. “We hear your concerns, and want to let you know that at CSCU, we're always looking for the most effective resources to help support you.”
