TULSA, Okla. — With the massive Midwest ice storm shutting off power in vast sections of Oklahoma and Missouri Tuesday, many credit unions remained closed but with service centers managing to dispense cash at still-functioning ATM facilities, according to the Oklahoma Credit Union League.
"It's all hit and miss from what I can tell at our six stand-alone service centers with only the Norman center shut down," said D.J. Morro Ingram, the interim CEO of the league.
The Oklahoma League's offices here have been closed since early yesterday with its 15 staffers communicating with member CUs from homes via special wireless lines or cell phones.
Oklahoma CUs were reportedly recovering faster from the storm with power restored but the problem is far worse in Tulsa where the storm has left 230,000 individuals without electricity since Monday.

"Right now I'm trying to communicate from a hotel room in Tulsa and let me tell you I was lucky to get this room with only four hotels open in all of Tulsa," said Ingram.
