LAWRENCE, Mass. — Local elected officials and dignitaries have made it a point to tour Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union's new corporate offices.
An elegant affair under a tent in the parking lot separating the CU's offices and Salvatore's Restaurant on the Riverwalk and entertainment provided by the Windham Swing Band during grand opening festivities helped mark MVFCU's introduction to locals.
"Many of us received glowing comments and remarks regarding not only the building but also the ceremony," said Peter Matthews, President/CEO of Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union

"Many of us received glowing comments and remarks regarding not only the building but also the ceremony," said Peter Matthews, President/CEO of Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union. "I would like to thank Bill Betton and John MacDonald for their tireless efforts over the past two years overseeing this huge project resulting in a truly major accomplishment of which we are all extremely proud."
The project has been a challenge, with the move having a great significance for the City of Lawrence; while large businesses have been leaving the city, MVFCU opted instead to call it home.
"The Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union has proven their commitment to Lawrence and the Merrimack Valley. I and the City of Lawrence are truly grateful," said Mayor Michael J. Sullivan. It is a prime example of how everyone working together can make great things happen."
