WASHINGTON — CUNA recently announced a new program to help get more small credit unions at its 2008 Governmental Affairs Conference.

The program allows credit unions to donate any amount of funds to support credit unions under $35 million attending the GAC, scheduled for March 2-6 and for the first time ever at the Washington Convention Center. CUNA said the new program was developed in response to the recognition by large credit unions of the importance to get all credit unions in to meet with their lawmakers about the credit union difference.

CUNA said the average cost of everything for a small credit union to attend, including airfare, lodging, and registration, is about $2,000. Pledges should be submitted no later than Jan. 4, 2008. CUNA will grant and reimburse based upon commitments.
